Pittsburgh's Shadyside - 5/7/2008
The East End of Pittsburgh is rich with an amalgam of small neighborhoods all pushed up against one another and living among the hills and parks of the city's scape. Shadyside is positioned directly in the middle of those neighborhoods and is home to graduate students, hipsters, young professionals and rich locals, all of which you'll find in its many cafes, restaurants and boutiques.
Whether you're looking to fill out your jeans with the latest cupcake craze, sip lattes or have organic ice cream, you can get just about anything in one of the five local cafes here (plus, of course a couple of Starbucks and a Borders if you're that type.) We've got gay bars, sports bars, dive bars and non-smoking bars, bars that sell huge slices of pizza and bars that give it away for free. Restaurants range from super expensive bourgeois to grab a sandwich and go types, with Harris Grill being a definite must-stop for libation and great foodstuffs.
