I have lived here for 44 years. Well, I left a few years for college and work for some in-between time, but my roots were established here 44 years ago. This is a quaint and quiet place with nice, not-nosy neighbors who don't report you if you burn your trash or have a horse or goats in your yard. Some of us are educated, some of us are not. Who gives a care? We love each other here. I hope I am not persuading you to move here. You would probably be bored. But, residents love it here - with the artesian wells, mossy oaks, lots of ghostly legends and history. Springfield has three rivers that meet. It used to have a university, booming logging business, and court house. Transportation changed everything. The railroads were built seven to ten miles north, and the rivers were not longer as necessary for the economy. Then the interstates were built five to seven miles north and east of here.
