West Portal is San Francisco at it's best. Located on the other side of Twin Peaks from market Street, West Portal is a neighborhood of mostly single family homes with yards, trees driveways and parking! West Portal Avenue, the main shopping strip for West Portal, Forest Hill and St. Francis Woods, has over 25 good places to eat. Shops range all the way from the local hardware store to two 'chain' drugstores, and everything in between.

San Francisco's MUNI trains travel up and down the center of West Portal Avenue, taking commuters all the way out to the 'Avenues' and the Ocean. West Portal MUNI station, located at the end of West Portal Avenue, is the beginning of the subway system for the K,L,M lines - just a 20 minute ride downtown.
