Central New Jersey...not what you may think

We've lived in several different parts of the country, and when we found out we were moving to NJ due to my husband's new job, we bought into the stereotype and thought, "aaarghh...New Jersey!" We were pleasantly surprised to find farms, open space (our town, Plainsboro, has permanently protected a large portion of its land area from development), parks, hiking - and the cultural offerings of Princeton (next town to us) and Princeton University. New York is an hour away by train. We've been here 4 years and while recognizing some of the drawbacks such as high taxes, home prices, and some congestion, we really like it overall. Nice mild climate too (compared to New England, where we have also lived). Too expensive to retire here, but it's great for now.
