Decent place to live

Lumberton is a small town, nearly a bedroom community for Beaumont-Port Arthur. The school district is good, and fiscially conservative. Stores are adequate but Beaumont provides the shopping and larger retail opportunities. It is a dry town, but not that high dollar a town. Like a number of towns in TX growth has been helter-skelter, driven by the developers. Growth in recent years has been high as people have moved out from Beaumont. This is the southern end of the Piney woods of east TX and the beginning of the rolling hills. Although the elevation is only 30-50 feet, it is much higher than the area between here and the coast so flooding is usually less of an issue.
