I guess it all depends upon what part of Washington state you live in. I live in Southwest Washington State and it sucks here. Most of the people are Green Acres, backwoods hillbilly types with no manners or upbringing. The people are not friendly and the drivers are egregious. Homes for 300,000 are literally depressing places you would not want to live in. Everyone from California is moving to Southwest Washington State bidding up home prices and paying cash for homes driving up unrealistic prices and preventing locals from getting a house! The weather absolutely sucks in Washington State. It's like a dark, foreboding Gotham City from October to June. Grey skies rain and no sunsine. The nicer area of Southwest Washington like Ridgefield Washington is becoming a crowded gridlock cramming homes in small lots. Other supposedly nicer areas like Salmon Creek, and Fishers Landing are still gross. There are homeless camps all over Washington State and you will find a vagabond going through your garbage like a cemetery fly on trash day. Almost all new construction is boring, copycat, Craftsman style homes with few windows, and as of 2020 the median price for a decent home without necessary builder upgrades is $400,000! Car insurance is expensive here because there are a lot of uninsured losers driving late model 90s cars with one headlight broken and a dent in the rear quarter panel- Yes, that is the class of people you'll have to deal with here! The two to three months of summer sunshine makes it an somewhat nice place to live however it often just puts a spotlight on what is ugly here. I'm only living here because I have a somewhat decent job paying decent money otherwise I'd be out of here in a heartbeat! before you make a move to Washington State I sincerely suggest you take a year and visit during the different seasons.
